MeadGIN Tonic — ENTUZIAST's Signature Gin & Tonic
Gin & Tonic is so simple that it reveals the character of the gin particularly well. Tonic does not create flavor instead of the base spirit — it extends it, adding bitterness, freshness, and carbonation.
That is why we did not want an unnecessarily complicated formula for ENTUZIAST MeadGIN. MeadGIN Tonic should remain a recognizable Gin & Tonic while allowing the individuality of a gin built on a honey-distillate foundation to remain visible.
How Is MeadGIN Tonic Different?
The main difference is the spirit itself. MeadGIN combines gin botanicals with the character of the distillate from which it is made. Tonic therefore should not mask those nuances with excessive bitterness, sweetness, or strong flavoring.
MeadGIN Tonic Recipe
- 50 ml ENTUZIAST MeadGIN;
- 100–130 ml chilled dry tonic water;
- plenty of large ice cubes;
- a strip of lemon or grapefruit peel.
Start with a ratio of approximately 1:2. If you prefer a lighter drink, gradually increase the amount of tonic.
How to Make MeadGIN Tonic
- Chill the tonic thoroughly.
- Fill a large glass almost completely with ice.
- Add 50 ml MeadGIN.
- Slowly pour in the tonic, preserving carbonation.
- Stir gently once.
- Express the oils from the citrus peel over the glass and use it as garnish.
Why Use Plenty of Ice?
A generous amount of ice quickly chills the drink and helps prevent excessive dilution. A few small cubes melt quickly, while a large volume of good-quality ice keeps the temperature low for longer.
Which Tonic Is Best?
For a first introduction, choose a relatively neutral dry tonic without overpowering fruit flavors. Later, citrus or herbal tonics can be interesting, but they should support the gin rather than compete with it.
Garnish: Less Is More
Lemon or grapefruit peel is enough. There is no need to fill the glass with berries, cucumber, rosemary, pepper, and several other botanicals at the same time.
Conclusion
MeadGIN Tonic is perhaps the simplest way to discover ENTUZIAST MeadGIN in cocktail form.
One part MeadGIN, about two parts good tonic, plenty of ice, and a restrained garnish — nothing unnecessary.
